Is there a single Explorer of this vintage without a crack on the hatch?

Man, I was just behind one yesterday thinking the exact same thing. Every one of them in the same spot; how did it not show up in the durability testing?

Polymers age in weird ways when exposed to UV light, ozone and other reactive gasses. They can become brittle with age, and that’s something that doesn’t necessarily show up during accelerated durability studies.

Smaller but just a prevalent issues on 1997 - 2003 generation of F-150 single and supercabs.

A small crack would develop on the front doors caused by the stress of the windows going up and down. I found out about it before my truck’s door actually cracked and prevented them from cracking by rarely using my windows. Not that I used them much to begin with, but sucks to have to resort to that on a new truck.

Ford only fixed cracks while under warranty.

I am shocked there isn’t a class action suit against these problems

I also remembered that I (think) posted a same post a while ago. I guess it really bugs me.

Problem also was prevalent on the Lincoln Aviator too

Same car, but I think I’ve seen maybe 10 of those in my life

Yes — I saw a green one with a flat black replacement

I presume it had the cracked one replaced. Maybe aftermarket is better quality?

Well it certainly can’t be much worse.

My sister has an explorer of that vintage, 2002, and it’s not cracked.

Next time I’m in Savannah I’ll take a picture, might not be for a while. We both got low mileage explorers from our grandparents as our first cars.

I’ve seen a couple with that panel simply missing. That counts as not cracked, right?

So like across the body panel under the rear glass? (My neighbor has a white one, I’m gonna go look.)

That probably would’ve been more profitable than graphic design.

On either side of the Ford logo under the hatch glass.

Enjoy all the cool cars I can’t afford for me. I’ll be over here drawing pictures of the ones I like to keep myself content.

One day...wife wants to lease a Macan GTS if the business she is planning on opening works well. I am sticking with the Abarth 500 Convertible as long as I can.

Here you go, here are the first two I clicked on, so far it seems that here we’re the opposite, most are fine and only a few are broken.

Hm, I wonder if they’ve been fixed or if they are different part numbers.
